The Embassy of India in Cairo organized, yesterday, a special event in Cairo to highlight the “Global Entertainment and Audiovisual Summit” (WAVES) scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India during the period from 5-9 February 2025.
The event brought together a number of Egyptian industry leaders, innovators and specialists in the media and entertainment sector, and provided enlightened insights on the “WAVES” summit, highlighting it as a leading platform to explore opportunities, discover innovative solutions, understand emerging trends and technologies in the field of content creation, and network with pioneers in the media and entertainment sector in the world.
In a speech to the attendees, C. Sushma, Chargé d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy, emphasized the importance of the “WAVES” summit in enhancing cooperation and innovation in the media and entertainment sector. She highlighted the opportunities offered by the current session of the summit and encouraged stakeholders and pioneers in this industry from Egypt to participate and benefit from this summit.
She also stressed the importance of cultural cooperation between India and Egypt, noting the mutual appreciation between the two countries for each other’s culture. She pointed to the strong cultural ties between the two countries, such as the inclusion of Egyptian history in Indian school curricula and the Egyptians’ admiration for Indian culture.
The event included a presentation on the WAVES Summit highlighting its key events. The summit is scheduled to include eight main events, including: “Global Media Dialogue”, “Thought Leaders Track”, Exhibition, “Wave Bazaar”, “Wave Accelerator”, “Sarai Bharat”, and “Create in India Challenge”, which will be held within four main axes: 1- Broadcast and Entertainment Media (News Media, Television, Radio, Data Services, Music and Advertising), 2- AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, E-Sports, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Extended Reality, Metaverse), 3- Digital Media (Social Media, Online Streaming Platforms, Online Creators, Generative AI, Emerging Technologies), and 4- Films (Films, Documentaries, Short Films, Videos, Cinematic Technologies, Production, Post-Production, Distributors and Exhibitors).
“Wave Bazaar” is a leading marketplace for this industry that aims to identify business partners in order to establish business relationships and provides a platform that brings together buyers and sellers from different countries. While the Global Media Dialogue event provides opportunities to interact with key policy makers in the media and entertainment sector from around the world.
