Who is the foreign minister?
The Secretary holds the highest position in the President’s Cabinet. Should the President resign or die, the Secretary of State will be fourth in line to the post after the Vice President, the Speaker of the House and the President per tempo of the Senate.
There have been 71 foreign ministers in the nation’s history. Three were women and two were African American. In early American history, the position of secretary was seen as a stepping stone to the presidency. Six of the early foreign ministers later became presidents. Foreign ministers are also usually highly educated. Four have doctorates, four have won the Nobel Peace Prize.
