USAID’s critical role in the prosperity of our peoples

The governments of the United States and Mexico are working together to address our common challenges. To create and expand opportunities for the United States and Mexico, our agencies work under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED) to integrate our supply chains and engage to focus on consolidating North America as the world’s leading clean energy economy and powerhouse.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has worked with the people of Mexico for more than 40 years and is a key partner in realizing the future envisioned by our Presidents. Today, USAID and Mexico’s International Development Cooperation Agency (AMEXCID) are jointly coordinating our foreign assistance to address the root causes of migration in northern Central America. USAID programs also focus on common Mexican and American priorities such as preventing crime and violence, strengthening the rule of law, improving transparency, protecting and promoting human rights, and helping rural Mexicans earn a living while protecting the environment.

No US government funds may be used for partisan purposes. The US government and its agencies have rigorous mechanisms in place to monitor and ensure that US assistance is implemented objectively and in accordance with grant terms.
