CAIRO – The US Embassy in Cairo is pleased to welcome Michael Kaiser, Chair of the DeVos Institute for Arts and Cultural Management at the University of Maryland, to Egypt for the first of three visits over the next eight months. Mr. Kaiser, President Emeritus of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, will provide hands-on mentorship to Egyptian arts and culture administrators to strengthen their organizations and build capacity. Over the next eight months, Mr. Kaiser will conduct five training seminars focused on his arts and culture management curriculum entitled “The Cycle”. Egyptian organizations participating in these trainings receive instruction on strategic planning, marketing, and ways to increase their audience, revenue, and supporters – all with the aim of improving their ability to invest in even better art, them develop, support and create. To conclude the seminar series, eight participants will travel to the United States with Mr. Kaiser in October 2023 to meet like-minded American arts and cultural administrators, exchange ideas, and make connections for future collaboration. The U.S. government’s goal through this initiative is to support and catalyze cultural innovation and collaboration within and between Egypt and the United States.

Speaking on the importance of the training program for US-Egypt cultural cooperation, Chargé d’Affaires and AI Ambassador Daniel Rubinstein said: “I am confident that our friends here in Egypt will benefit tremendously from this program and the connections made through this program will not only lead to greater advances in the artistic and cultural communities of the United States and Egypt, but also in the economies of our respective nations.”
