The 2024 US elections
We host a series of speaker programs and invite experts to provide valuable insights and analysis.
On November 5, 2024, 160 million Americans will have the chance to go to the polls and vote in the 60th presidential election.
The U.S. Embassy Berlin and the U.S. Consulates General in Germany host a series of speaker programs. An American expert on US elections is invited to provide insights into the electoral process and the candidates. They will discuss the potential impact of the election results on both the United States and the global community.
The goal of these speaker programs is to provide valuable information to the local community in Germany and promote understanding of the democratic process in the United States.
Learn more about our programs:
-
- On January 22nd we started our lecture series with Congressmen Steve Israel (Democrat) and Tom Davis (Republican) at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation
- On April 18, 2024, the U.S. Embassy hosted the virtual program: Understanding the 2024 US Presidential Election. A big thank you to Joshua Sellers, Professor at the University of Texas School of Law. Professor Sellers led a virtual teacher training seminar for 44 teachers from Berlin. They were heads of foreign language departments in their schools. Sellers is an expert on election law, constitutional law, race and law, and American politics. Topics that particularly interested her included the intricacies of the Electoral College, the importance of swing states, which groups of voters are likely to determine the outcome, how the African-American community influences the election and the major differences between the two candidates. We were also happy to provide online teaching resources about the 2024 US elections.
