Statement by Ambassador Salazar on the Matamoros kidnapping incident
Salazar statement: “On Friday, March 3, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, unknown assailants violently abducted four US citizens at gunpoint in an incident that tragically killed an innocent Mexican national.
We have no higher priority than the safety of our citizens – this is the most basic role of the US government. U.S. law enforcement officials from multiple agencies are working with Mexican authorities at all levels of government to ensure the safe return of our countrymen.
