Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani today on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Capri and thanked him for Italy’s leadership during the G7 Presidency. Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary of State Tajani condemned Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel. They discussed shared concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the urgent need to protect civilians, the response to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and the importance of preventing further escalation in the Middle East. They also discussed efforts to increase support for Ukraine against Russian aggression.
