Secretary of State Antony J. Flash spoke today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to discuss extending and expanding the ceasefire in Sudan and ensuring a coordinated humanitarian response. The Secretary of State and Secretary of State agreed to continue close consultations between the US and Egypt on ongoing efforts to bring hostilities to a permanent cessation in Sudan. They discussed the May Day Syria meeting in Amman. The minister stressed that those dealing with the Assad regime should carefully consider how these efforts meet the needs of the Syrian people.
