Pegs Creek, Baynton Lions extend West Pilbara Cricket Association’s unbeaten T20 run into Round 4

Pegs Creek 1 extended their unbeaten streak in West Pilbara Cricket Association men’s T20 competition with an impressive performance against Nickol, keeping the Falcons to just 92 runs.

Playing under the lights at Millars Well Oval on Saturday night, Pegs Creek got off to a strong start as Lachlan Seabrook hit 39 runs from 24 balls before being caught.

Unfortunately, Jordan Perkusich’s unassuming form continued, with the star hitter only managing 15 carries before being bowled by Syed Ali.

With some low scores in the midfield, things were starting to look sketchy for the undefeated league leader, but it was Michael Greene’s 23 runs that pushed the tally to over 100 and a 13-run not-out innings for Anthony Brokate saw Pegs Creek continued the hunt for 122 runs.

Most impressive, however, was the bowling of Pegs Creek 1, where only one Nickol batsman – Waqas Ahmad – conceded over 20 runs to see the Hawks fall well short of the total, managing just 92 runs in 20 overs.

Pegs Creek’s Matthew Smith took three wickets for just 14 runs over three overs.

The win extends Pegs Creek 1’s unbeaten run to four games, a welcome relief after second-placed and still undefeated Baynton Lions clinched the points against the Rec Club.

It took the Lions just 12 overs to topple Rec Club, who put the chase at a measly 73 runs.

Elsewhere in the league, the Karratha Kats were able to topple Wickham to stay in third place on the ladder while Dampier Taverners 1 beat their cross-club rivals Dampier Taverners 2, who later lost to Pegs Creek 2 in their double-header that evening.
