Paraguayan Ambassador Wishes Egypt a Blessed Ramadan and Great Lent
In a heartfelt message addressed to the people of Egypt, Ambassador Víctor Hugo Peña Bareiro of Paraguay extended warm wishes for a blessed Ramadan and Great Lent, emphasizing the unity and shared values of Muslims and Christians during these sacred periods.
The message, delivered last Monday, coincided with the start of Ramadan and the Coptic Orthodox Great Lent, underscoring the significance of these observances in bringing together communities of different faiths. Ambassador Peña highlighted the unity and solidarity among Egyptians, as both Muslims and Christians embarked on their respective fasts together.

Dear People of Egypt,
This year, last Monday, both Muslims and Christians started their respective fasts together, which marked the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the Coptic Orthodox Great Lent, that will end with the Feast of Eid El-Fitr and Orthodox Easter, respectively.
Witnessing this remarkable fact, I would like to extend on behalf of the Paraguayan people and Government, as well as on my own behalf, our warmest wishes for a blessed period to all Egyptians –Muslims and Christians– stressing that we are today more united than ever by these very symbolic commemorations.
Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and mutual help, in which the Quran began to be revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Lent is a time of preparation for the Resurrection of Christ, a time of renewed devotion: of prayer, fasting, almsgiving, repentance, and renewal of minds, hearts and deeds. Both of them invite us to become better people and to live in community, never forgetting who is beside us.
As world citizens, regardless our nationalities, we are all sensitive to face challenges, and that is a powerful reason to count on each other. In this particular case, both Paraguay and Egypt enjoy nearly 70 years of prosperous diplomatic relations, characterized by political, economic and cultural cooperation, interacting and benefiting each other of high-quality raw materials, products and services that are produced in our respective countries.
I would like to take this opportunity to reassure that Paraguay continues offering to Egypt very convenient policies for investment, trade and cooperation in all fields, and I believe that there is no better way for continued improvement than potentiating mutual growth and progress.
In my position of Head of Mission of the Embassy of Paraguay in Egypt, I convey once again my heartfelt wishes for a prosperous Ramadan and Great Lent to all my fellow Egyptian citizens, Muslims and Christians, raising up a prayer for our peoples and Nations in this holy period of the year 2024.
