With the opening of the new Estate House this month, SCHLOSS Roxburghe is undergoing a major redevelopment, including the addition of 58 new guest rooms, a purpose-built banquet suite, expanded spa amenities and a number of cottages dotted around the property. This exciting new extension to the hotel is just one of a number of new additions planned for this historic Scottish Borders estate formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe.

estate house

The hotel will have an additional 58 rooms when the Estate House opens in November, more than doubling the current room capacity of 20. The rooms offer modern comforts and some of the best views on the estate. Guests can enjoy their private balcony and sink into the comfort of a luxurious four-poster bed. In addition, a purpose-built banquet hall will be developed with a capacity of over 120 guests and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the golf course.

Dogs are welcome in the Estate House as well as in the main house. Dog owners can book rooms with their canine companions and individual dog beds and homemade dog treats are provided.

SCHLOSS Spa

As part of the expansion, a brand new 1,100 square foot spa will also premiere this month. It will feature a heated outdoor infinity pool with LED lighting and a sound system with underwater speakers, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, a second plunge pool and a fitness center. Three treatment rooms and a built-in Finnish dry sauna are also available.

The sauna is partly buried in the ground and has a larch exterior finish, with huge landscape windows to enjoy the view. There is also an aroma sauna where you can release your own fragrant aroma for a completely unique experience. The spa’s holistic approach will place more emphasis on overall wellness, awareness and rejuvenation than simply treating the body. Both visitors and local residents can use the spa.

Cottages

With the opening of 12 additional cottages, located in the beautiful forest on the SCHLOSS Roxburghe estate, guests have more accommodation options from this month. For small golf groups wishing to travel to the Championship Golf Course, the two bedroom self-catering cottages are ideal as they are only a short distance from the fantastic activities on offer throughout the resort.

Families can also consider the cottages as they offer a greater sense of solitude and space. Some of them even have their own personal saunas. An additional 49 cottages will be added to the collection over the next few years, with a mix of one and two bedroom options. The last house will be completed in 2024.

Charlie’s Restaurant

The new Charlie’s Restaurant has a beautiful terrace and serves the best of Scottish bistronomy. Originating in France, the concept of bistronomy emphasizes the use of the best products and artisanal cooking methods in an informal, comfortable environment. The idea for “Scottish Bistronomy” came from the hotel’s aim to develop a concept that brings out the best foods and products available in the Scottish Borders while taking a comprehensive approach of the “Estate to plate “-thought.

Shooting center

The shooting center has reopened with 10 new traps for visitors to try. The center is a great place for all levels to learn and is located in the beautiful, rolling park of SCHLOSS Roxburghe.

Clay pigeon shooting, a classic game of skill that tests hand-eye coordination and reaction time, has numerous positive effects on both physical and mental health, including balance, muscle strength and mental well-being.
