The 67thth The UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will meet on March 6-17, 2023. With a focus on gender justice and equality and the empowerment of women and girls, the CSW is the second largest annual gathering of activists at the UN. Academics, government officials and policy makers.
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, US Representative to the United Nations, is the US Head of Delegation. Jennifer Klein, director of the White House Gender Policy Council, and Ambassador Lisa Carty, United States representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, are the deputy representatives.
The US delegation will host the following side events:
march 9, 1:15 p.m. EST: The United States will host an event titled “Accelerating Gender Equality in the Digital Economy.” At the event, the United States will announce its intention to start a Major new initiative to draw attention to evidence, data and accelerate proven solutions and strategies to advance digital gender equality. Attendees include senior officials from the United States government, bilateral and multilateral agencies, the private sector, and global nongovernmental organizations. including Jennifer Klein and Doreen Bogdan-Martin, UN Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union.
March 10, 1 p.m. EST: The United States will host an event titled Catalyzing Collective Action to End Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence. This event will provide impetus for President Biden’s second Summit for Democracy on March 29-30 and will showcase the progress of the Global Partnership for Action against Gender-Based Harassment and Abuse Online with partner countries. The event is being held in partnership with senior leaders from UNFPA, UNICEF and UN Women, together with the Association for Progressive Communication, the Danish Government and co-sponsored by the Global Partnership. Jennifer Klein will make comments. This event will be streamed live here.
