Media Note: US delegation at the 2023 UN Water Conference

The United States Mission to the United Nations today announced the US delegation to the 2023 United Nations Water Conference to be held March 22-24, 2023 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Home Secretary Deb Haaland and Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, United States Representative to the United Nations, will lead the conference delegation. Minister Haaland will make the national statement on behalf of the United States on Wednesday, March 22nd. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will address the United States-hosted Stronger through Water event on the sidelines of the United Nations Water Conference 2023 on Thursday, March 23.
Deputy representatives of the US delegation include Geraldine Richmond, Undersecretary for Science and Innovation at the US Department of Energy, Maria-Elena Giner, US Commissioner of the International Boundary and Water Commission, Isobel Coleman, Deputy Administrator at the US Agency for International Development, US Representative to the United Nations Organizations for Cindy McCain, Ambassador for Food and Agriculture, and Monica Medina, US Special Envoy for Biodiversity and Water Resources and Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environment and Science Affairs.
The Water Conference – officially known as the 2023 Conference for the Midterm Comprehensive Review of Implementation of the UN Decade for Action on Water and Sanitation (2018-2028) – aims to assess progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 6 and identify actions required to achieve the target Global Goals by 2030.
