Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux are proud to present the Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition, the first Laureato timepiece to feature a green ceramic case and bracelet. This is the latest collaboration between the prestigious Swiss maison and the British ultra-luxury brand, two institutions with a rich history of creating iconic products that stand the test of time through excellence in design, materials and craftsmanship.

While some of the materials used for this new timepiece are state-of-the-art, the essence of Girard-Perregaux’s 1975 inaugural Laureato, which translates into English as “Graduate” and is named after the 1970s film, has been respected. . The highly exclusive Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition is offered in two case sizes – 42mm and 38mm – and is limited to just 388 and 188 units.

Sleek, contemporary and exceptionally elegant, the design of the Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition incorporates elements inspired by Aston Martin cars, from powerful engines to clean contours and lightweight construction. It is this latter feature that encouraged Girard-Perregaux to equip this new model with ‘baton’ skeletonized hour and minute hands, both light and functional. The dial of the watch features a criss-cross design, a diamond-like pattern found on Aston Martin’s original ‘AM’ logo used between 1921-1926, as well as the quilted leather trim found in some of the high brand performance vehicles.

Just as the Laureato’s timeless design has won the admiration of enlightened commentators and watch aficionados, Aston Martin has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to create iconic shapes that have never lost their appeal. Whether an early 1960s DB4, a 1970s DBS V8 or a modern Vantage, all models share the same attributes of elegance, luxury and performance.

Aston Martin’s iconic association with the color green began many decades ago, when manufacturers raced in the colors of their country of origin, in this case British Racing Green. Since then, Aston Martin racing cars have competed in various shades of green before resting on the now famous Aston Martin Racing Green, which adorns Formula 1® cars. It was a logical conclusion that this co-branded timepiece was dressed in green, a color that conjures up thoughts of achievement and success.

Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux, said: “From the start, the design of the Laureato was distinctive, but cohesive. The styling included geometric, clean lines while displaying a slightly soft character. Contrasting polished and satin surfaces, an ergonomic integrated bracelet and of course, as always, an in-house movement… these are the essential ingredients that have made the Laureato a remarkable success. The same ingredients are evident in the new Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition, along with the addition of an interesting, very contemporary material.”

Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin added: “Our goal was to come up with a sophisticated luxury product. Interestingly, Patrick and I spent a lot of time talking about the folklore of the Laureato and the design play between shape and proportion of the iconic bezel. When he shared GP’s exploration into the optical properties of engineering ceramics, microbeads and microns, I became quite enchanted with this idea of the past becoming the future. We are always looking for combinations of technology, color and materials in Aston Martin sports cars to enrich the performance, functionality and enjoyment of the owner. Together we have merged these ideas and features to generate this cool new Aston Martin GP Laureato.”

Both Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux operate in a world of excellence, where time-honored skills imbue products with distinctive character and enduring quality, creating rare objects with lasting appeal. The Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition is the latest offering from this unique collaboration, which began in 2021. The new timepiece, presented in a 42mm or 38mm model, will be available worldwide from June 2023 at selected Girard-Perregaux retailers .
