
Amr Hussein, an international affairs researcher, said that the visit of Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, to Egypt is particularly important given the delicate circumstances facing the region.
In a press statement, Hussein emphasized that the meetings between the Egyptian and Sudanese leaderships reflect the two countries’ commitment to strengthening political and security coordination and supporting Sudan’s stability, as it is a fundamental pillar of security in the Horn of Africa and North Africa.
He pointed out that Egypt is a major supporter of national unity and a peaceful solution in Sudan, emphasizing that the visit opens new horizons for strategic cooperation, particularly on regional security issues, counterterrorism, and joint development issues.
He pointed out that this visit confirms the deep historical relations between the two brotherly peoples and embodies the Egyptian leadership’s commitment to playing an active role in supporting regional stability.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi yesterday received Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy said that the meeting addressed support for efforts aimed at restoring stability and achieving development in Sudan, in addition to consultations on a number of regional issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s firm and supportive position on Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of intensifying coordination between the two countries to serve the interests of the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples.
