Participants in the Orbis Flight for Sight event will also receive a virtual tour of the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital. This is an amazing plane that flies around the world helping people in need. FedEx donated a cargo plane that was converted into a state-of-the-art eye hospital for education and training.

Nearly 1 billion people around the world live with vision loss or blindness that could be prevented or treated if they had access to the care we so easily take for granted. Your participation will help end preventable blindness for people living in love and middle-income countries where eye care is non-existent. The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital was made possible by the event sponsor FedEx who donated this unique aircraft and transformed it into a state-of-the-art eye hospital for education and training.

The Flying Eye Hospital travels to half a dozen destinations each year, equipped with a full medical team from more than 30 countries. Physicians, anesthesiologists and biomedical engineers volunteer their time to share their expertise with local medical professionals.

The purpose of the Flying Eye Hospital is threefold. To help treat eye problems that would be easily curable if only people had access to medical professionals, to raise awareness of eye health among local governments, and to train local medical professionals.
