CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The US Embassy in Qatar is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the prestigious Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program. This program offers Qatari scholars an exciting opportunity to conduct advanced research, lecture or pursue a combined lecture and research program at leading academic institutions in the United States for a period of three to ten months between September 2024 and June 2025.

program details

• Duration: from three months to one academic year (9-10 months)
• Fields of study: All academic disciplines
• Financial Support: The Fulbright Visiting Scholar is a fully funded exchange program from the US Department of State. It offers comprehensive financial assistance, including international travel, living expenses, health insurance, and research grants.

Eligible applicants must

• Be a Qatari citizen and resident of Qatar at the time of application and selection.
• They have their Ph.D. completed. University degree or equivalent professional qualification prior to application.
• You have outstanding academic achievements and a proven commitment to research and teaching.
• You have a good knowledge of spoken and written English. Please note that English certificates such as TOEFL and IELTS are not required.
• In no more than five pages, clearly describe your planned curriculum and/or research plans, including the duration of the project and its objectives
• Include a letter of invitation from a US host institution or contact information for the desired host institution. Please note that research at host institutions is the responsibility of potential applicants. Here you will find a checklist of the components of the letter of invitation.

application process

All interested applicants must complete the Fulbright Visiting Scholar application online at https://apply.iie.org/fvsp2024/ (see preview below).

Select the 2024 application form, create an account and then log in to start a new application. Submit the completed application forms electronically and scanned copies of all required documents no later than December 10, 2023. All required documents should be submitted online.

A complete application includes:

• Application form (generated by the system including attachments)
• Detailed description of the planned activity (maximum 3 to 5 pages)
• Detailed CV
• Two letters of reference
• Copy of passport biography page
• Translated copies of diplomas and transcripts of grades (bachelor, master and doctoral degrees)
• Other certificates received (only subject-related)
• Letter of invitation or appointment from US institutions (preferred but not required)
