Electronic Consular Birth Report Abroad (eCRBA)

Application procedure for the Electronic Birth Report Abroad (eCRBA).

Overview:
A Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) is an official document proving the acquisition of U.S. citizenship or non-citizenship (“nationality”) upon the birth of a foreign-born person to one or more U.S.-born parents. Citizenship (or non-citizenship) certified. Applicants can submit a DS-2029 application on paper OR electronically via eCRBA, an online solution accessible on a desktop/laptop, mobile phone or tablet.

Using eCRBA is faster, more efficient and allows multiple steps to be performed through the same platform. In addition, applicants can check the status of their application, send secure correspondence, and view and manage messages.

Apply for eCRBA at MyTravel.state.gov:

1. Register for an account at MyTravel.state.gov and/or log in.

2. Qualify for eCBRA by answering Yes/No to the “Determine Eligibility” questions. If you meet the requirements, you can proceed with the eCRBA application. (You can also click on the available links to learn more about the questions or an alternative option if you do not qualify to apply online.)

3. In the online application, you will be asked to upload all the required documents, all of which must be presented in original on the day of the interview. It is recommended that you have this ready when completing the application. Required documents may include, but are not limited to:
A. Birth certificate (usually the child’s original local birth certificate)
B. Proof of U.S. citizenship of the submitting parent(s) (usually a U.S. passport or birth certificate)
C. Valid photo identification of parents
D. Documentary evidence of parents’ marriage(s) (may include marriage certificate, divorce certificate or death certificate)
e. Financial support and/or legal relationship (for illegitimate children or court-ordered support)
F. A scanned and notarized Form DS-5507 (for illegitimate children)
G. Proof of U.S. presence (e.g., bank, employment, school, or tax records, rental receipts, etc.)

4. Start filling out the online application. On the left side of the screen you can see the steps of the application process. As you complete the steps, you can navigate through the application and track your progress. You can go back to previous sections, attach files, and edit as needed.

5. Once the application is complete, you can pay for the CRBA service through Pay.gov using a credit card or bank account on the Pay and Submit Application page.
A. At this point you will need to notarize a list of declarations.
B. You will also see “Your CRBA Fee” which relates to the number of CRBA applications submitted.
C. Once everything is reviewed, click the Pay button to submit the CRBA application for review. (Pay.gov accepts MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, and Discover. Customers paying with a US bank account must provide their routing number and account number.)

6. Plan your CRBA interview. After payment, you will be redirected to the Confirmed Submission page. CRBA appointments in the United Arab Emirates cannot be scheduled through MyTravelGov. Please allow 72 hours between submitting payment and your request for a CRBA interview for payment to be processed. You should email [email protected] or [email protected] to schedule an appointment.
As a reminder, you must bring all original documents and your child with you to the interview.
