Deputy Chief of Mission Marcus Micheli
A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Marcus Micheli is currently the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in The Hague. He previously served as a senior advisor to the US State Department for the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe. as Director of the Office of Russian Affairs in Washington, DC; and as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius, Lithuania. He also served as Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Yekaterinburg, Russia; as Director for Central and Eastern European Affairs at the National Security Council; and as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, Moldova.
In addition to previous tours in Washington, DC, as a Pearson Congressional Fellow on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, as Deputy Director of the State Department’s Office for Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus, and as Counsel to the Office of Coordinator for U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia, he also served in U.S. embassies in Montenegro, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine, and as a political advisor in the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mr. Micheli holds an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University, an MA in Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College, and a BA in History from Reed College.
