Up the Dakar 2 summit Feeding Africa: food sovereignty and resilience aims to turn advocacy into concrete action.
Thanks to the strong political will of African heads of state and government, there is an increasing availability of new technologies and platforms that deliver climate-smart agricultural solutions to millions of farmers. More African countries are achieving self-sufficiency in certain agricultural crops in a shorter period of time. These developments form the basis and proof that Africa can meet the United Nations’ zero hunger targets. Achieving zero hunger in Africa will require between $28.5 and $36.6 billion annually.
The three-day summit will be hosted by ZE President Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal and President of the African Union, and is co-hosted by the African Development Bank Group.
The Dakar 2 summit aims to bring together governments, private sector leaders, representatives of multilateral organizations and NGOs, as well as scientists and researchers, to explore ways to address the escalating food security challenge in Africa and build the continent’s resilience to future challenges. amplify shocks.
The Dakar 2 Summit builds on the first edition held in 2015. The program includes presidential roundtables, high-level plenary sessions and Food and Agricultural Delivery Compact sessions.
Investing in increasing agricultural productivity, supporting infrastructure, climate smart farming systems, with private sector investment across the food value chain, can help transform Africa into a breadbasket for the world.
