CEO Beatrice Dixon splits for wellness
In our CEO Wellness Series, we ask executives about their daily habits to gain insight into the tactics they use to minimize stress and maintain their well-being.
Beatrice Dixon is co-founder and CEO of The Honey Pot Company, a plant-based feminine hygiene powerhouse that aims to provide people with vaginas with a healthy alternative to feminine hygiene made with powerful and effective ingredients. Prior to founding The Honey Pot Company, Beatrice worked as a pharmacy technician and clerk at Whole Foods – experiences that helped her realize her position at the intersection of science and wellness where The Honey Pot Company is based today.
Coffee or tea? And what do you put in?
I love mint tea, so you’ll usually find me holding it. For the days when I want a little extra zing in my step and I want a cup of coffee, I like to mix it up with an adaptogen blend from Peak + Valley.
What’s your favorite breakfast?
I don’t have a grab and go breakfast because I’m a big believer in listening to your body and I often don’t know where I’ll be or what’s available. This month I’ve started my mornings with bone broth to coat my gut, give me energy, and keep me full during my workouts.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I’m always on the go, so it’s important for me to be able to do something regardless of location. I love a great yoga session, be it a class in a busy city or even in a hotel room or in my personal space. When I travel, I take a yoga mat with me just in case I don’t have time to hop to a class but still want to take the time to stretch and move my body. I also use this time as a moment to stop all the madness and have a moment of stillness.
How many hours do you sleep on a typical night?
I need sleep to be able to express myself as best as possible, so I really try to aim for eight hours or more a night.
How do you relieve stress?
Yoga, meditation, practicing mindfulness and spending time with my loved ones. I’m also getting off social media and the internet. When you run a business there will always be noise and it’s important to take those quiet moments to reflect and be still.
According to your smartphone, what was your daily average screen time in the last week?
My screen time is pretty low! I work about a few hours a day Monday through Friday, and I rarely use technology on the weekends. I make it a priority to spend time with my loved ones, so I try to be present and not on screens.
Which app do you use the most?
apple music There you will find my meditation playlists (which I do every day) and my music playlists, which I rotate based on the mood of the day or moment.
When was the last time you took a day off? What did you do?
I don’t know if there is such a thing as a CEO sabbatical. I always think of The Honey Pot and what we can do to bring the best to our people. At the end of last year I took my whole family to Costa Rica for a week long vacation and it was quite magical. I never take those moments for granted.
What is your company doing to prioritize employee wellbeing?
We encourage our team to take the time it takes to take care of themselves. We know that life can be fluid and work should be able to adapt to that. We also regard and treat our employees as people and not just as cogs in the system. It is important that people know that their health is the most important thing to us.
What’s your favorite treat?
I’m really not a sweet person, but if someone orders a dessert and it happens to pique my interest, I’ll definitely try it.
What is your favorite wellness product?
I have so many! I love Be Rooted diaries. My Gaiam yoga mat is another well-used favorite. I also just discovered Grounded which is a really nice black owned plant company.
