Barry Cable: Two sisters claim former Great North Melbourne molested them at his spa

More shocking allegations have been made against football icon Barry Cable – this time by two sisters who claim he molested them at the spa of his former Melbourne home and regularly exposed himself.
The women, who live in Victoria, are the latest alleged victims to come forward to testify in a civil lawsuit against Mr Cable, who is being sued by a woman who says she was subjected to years of sexual and emotional abuse that began with it when she was just 12.
She’s suing him for more than $1 million in damages, but if her case succeeds, she likely won’t get any money since Mr. Cable filed for bankruptcy last month.
The sisters came forward just two days ago after learning of the trial, with Judge Mark Herron yet to decide whether their evidence – and that of two other women who testified over the past week – will be admissible.
The sisters claim the alleged incidents happened in the early 1980s when Mr was North Melbourne’s cable trainer.
They told the court they knew the Cable family very well in the 1980s and spent a lot of time at their home during the summer, particularly at the spa.
Both women claimed that Mr Cable would first make sure the “bubbles” were on and then pull them over to him before wrapping his arms tightly around them to prevent them from escaping.
The younger sister told the court she recalled six separate instances when Mr Cable fondled her breasts, pulled on her swimming trunks and attempted to penetrate her.
“It was extremely painful,” she told the court. “I told him to please stop. I used to be very embarrassed and tried to get away.
“He didn’t want to (let go) in the beginning. Then I would go on, ‘Please Barry stop it’ and he would laugh at it and then let me go.”
She also told the court Mr Cable exposed himself sunbathing on several occasions when they – as well as her sister and his own sons – were around.
The woman also claimed he called her a couple of times to get him a towel while he was in his laundry and when she arrived he was standing naked.
And she gave evidence that she had seen Mr Cable behaving inappropriately towards her friend, who had visited his house with her a number of times.
The older sister said Mr Cable held her two or three times in the spa and then bounced her up and down on his lap.
“It was very uncomfortable and embarrassing,” she said. “I’ve made it my business not to be at the spa with him.”
She said when she was about 12 or 13, Mr Cable invited her to see him at the film World of Sport at Channel 7’s studios in Melbourne and on two of those trips he put his hand on her inner thigh.
“I would put my hand on his and say, ‘Don’t do that, Barry,'” she added, saying he would stop then.
On another occasion, when she was about the same age, she told the court she remembered Mr Cable calling her on the phone to visit his house with a music cassette she had recorded and when she arrived it was he naked.
She said she threw the tape at him and left.
When asked if she had told anyone, the woman said she had told Mr Cable’s wife Helen and claimed Mrs Cable told her: ‘Don’t pay any attention to him. Those are just cables.”
The older sister also revealed that the sisters told their parents about 20 years ago but never reported the matter to the police.
“It was extremely difficult to bring this up,” she said, breaking down in tears. “We were good friends with his sons and his wife.
“All I know is that he shouldn’t have acted like that. It was just good to get it off my chest.”
Judge Herron adjourned the trial until Friday to complete the filings.
