Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield hosts the first-ever Black History Month concert at the UN General Assembly Hall

Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield, US Representative to the United Nations, celebrates Black History Month with a concert live from UN Headquarters on Monday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. EST. This will be the first-ever concert in honor of Black History Month to be held at the United Nations General Assembly Hall. This is also the United States Military Academy Band’s first concert at the UN General Assembly Hall.

“I am delighted that in a spirit of progression and unity we can come together to enjoy the gift of these extraordinary musicians,” said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield. “For me, and for so many African Americans, music is a connection to our history in all its richness and diversity.”

The concert is organized in cooperation with the United States Military Academy at West Point and will be accompanied by the West Point Band and the West Point Cadet Glee Club. The West Point Band is the oldest active band in the United States Army and the oldest unit of the United States Military Academy, with roots dating back to the American Revolutionary War.

The concert will celebrate the contributions of black American composers and musicians. The music program will flow through a journey of unity, diversity, and hope to honor the strides America has made toward equality.

The concert will be streamed live at https://media.un.org/en/asset/k13/k13e4qyrlp
