Reading Ambassador Tai’s meeting with ROK President Yoon
SEOUL – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met with President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol today.
Ambassador Tai and President Yoon discussed the joint commitment of the United States and Korea to further strengthen the trade and economic dimension of the US-Korea relationship. Ambassador Tai warmly welcomed President Yoon’s April 26 state visit to Washington, DC, which represents a unique opportunity to celebrate a thriving alliance and discuss collaborative approaches to shared global challenges.
Ambassador Tai noted the United States’ appreciation for Korea’s active participation in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) negotiations. She welcomed President Yoon’s insights into Korea’s evolving role in the region as it pursues a policy of becoming a key global state.
Ambassador Tai thanked President Yoon and the Korean people for the warm welcome she received as head of the US delegation to the Indo-Pacific Regional Meeting of the Second Democracy Summit.
