Eixample is one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city. The word Eixample means ‘expansion’ in Catalan and represents its history as the first neighborhood built during the expansion of the city in the 19th and 20th centuries. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate with its grid street structure, it’s also full of gems to discover. Like Gràcia, Eixample is home to several architectural masterpieces by Gaudi, such as Casa Battló and La Pedrera.
