The Emerald Collection, an Italian 5-star luxury group, recently opened the Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa, expanding its luxury hospitality portfolio, known for its Deluxe All-Inclusive Formula.

Located on the northeast coast of the island in the Muyuni area, the new resort sits between the shoreline and acres of tropical jungle directly in front of Mnemba Island. Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa is set in 10 hectares of land that slopes down towards the sea. It has direct access to azure waters and is surrounded by an oval reef, which has been declared a Precious Marine Protected Area.

The only Leading Hotels of the World property in Zanzibar to offer all-suite accommodation, with 250 suites in seven different categories. Like all resorts in The Emerald Collection, Emerald Zanzibar guests will experience an elevated view of an all-inclusive stay, thanks to the brand’s signature Deluxe All-Inclusive formula, which offers guests the most complete experience regardless of the suite category reserved.

In Zanzibar, guests can look forward to gourmet à la carte dining, premium international wines, beers and spirits, access to unlimited non-motorized water sports activities, a 5-star diving center and the Emerald Spa offering Thai and Balinese treatments. The property is also home to a spacious sports center with tennis and padel courts, an indoor gym fully equipped with professional Technogym equipment and Zanzibar’s largest kids club.

A world of flavor awaits with four international restaurants, four bars and even a Gelateria (Gelato shop). The resort’s main restaurant, Aqua, serves international dishes all day from sunrise to sunset, while the Beach Club serves lunch on the sand for relaxed dining overlooking the Indian Ocean. From a Churrasca concept featuring South American dishes at Carnivorous to classic Asian dishes and a live teppanyaki cooking show at Le Asiatique Restaurant, the real luxury at Emerald Zanzibar is the variety of dining options.

From nesting green turtles and bottlenose dolphins to schools of colorful tropical reef fish, the underwater scenery of the Indian Ocean is at the resort’s doorstep. At the 5-star dive center, trained divers will guide visitors of all levels to get to know bannerfish, anthias and powder blue tangs. The Dolphin Kids Club, with its trained multilingual team, will keep the little ones entertained with creative and educational activities and games, both indoors and outdoors.

“We are delighted with the arrival of Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa. This is a vital project for The Emerald Collection, in which we have invested tens of millions of euros to build a new resort that meets the brand’s standards of excellence,” said Aldo Scarapicchia, Partner and Managing Director of The Emerald Collection.

“The property offers suites only and is the ideal starting point for guests who want to discover an incredible natural coral reef, as beautiful as that of the Maldives, and the natural park on Mnemba Island.”

The 5-star all-suite resort in Tanzania is the first in the collection on the African continent. It joins Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa (opening 2019) and the new Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa (opening October 2022), which are also affiliated with The Leading Hotels of the World.
