Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Paraguay celebrate the Cairo Film Festival 2022.

HE. Jose Octavio Tripp, Ambassador of Mexico to Egypt, held a reception for the Latin filmmakers participating in their works at the Cairo International Film Festival, participating with the ambassadors of three other embassies from Latin America, HE. Eduardo Valera, Argentine Ambassador, HE Victor Hugo Peña Bareiro
, Paraguayan Ambassador, and MR. FELIPE ALVARADO, Deputy Ambassador of Colombia.

Several Egyptian artists were also present, namely: Hussein Fahmy – the president of the festival, and the stars Yousra, Lebleba, Elham Shaheen, and Basma. From the Egyptian diplomatic side, Ambassador Ashraf Mounir, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Latin American Affairs, attended the ceremony.

In his speech, the Mexican ambassador said that the social role of cinema as a “dream factory” is known worldwide.
He added thanks to Hussein Fahmy, one of the legends of the Egyptian film industry; four Latin American embassies can share a small but significant sample of Latin America’s contribution to the Cairo International Film Festival, which is the most important film festival in Africa and the Arab world.

This came in his speech, on Saturday evening, at a party organized at his residence on the occasion of the Cairo International Film Festival, with the participation of Mexican film stars participating in the festival.
The ambassador continued: With such initiatives, the cinematic perspective is enriched for the Egyptian audience and brings Egypt and the Arab world closer to Latin America.
During the ceremony, the trailers of four Latin American films were shown. The ambassador paid tribute to Joaquín del Paso, last year’s winner of the Golden Pyramid Award for Best Film, and wished him all success in his current responsibility as a jury member.

The ambassador also thanked Hussein Fahmy – the head of the festival – for presenting Latin American cinema in Egypt – the cultural capital of the Arab world – and the cultural lung of Africa.
He said: Egypt and Mexico are two geographically distant countries, but they are close in love with the “Dream Factory”, defined by their passion for cinema.
