These are the Black Friday deals to avoid when Christmas shopping
It’s easy to get into the spirit of Black Friday—the busy shopping day after Thanksgiving. You’re in a mental state of mind to spend – and retailers rely on them to lure you in with door-breaker prices, hoping you’ll buy a lot more while you’re there. However, sometimes the offers are not as good as they seem.
Certain categories of goods are best avoided on Black Friday. And the team of DealNews has advice on what to avoid (and for how long). Here are things you’d better bypass.
TVs – well, some of them
Black Friday has great deals on some branded TVs. There are also specials for off-brands. Those are the ones you’d better avoid. TVs are a product that is so expensive that it is advisable to go for a big brand as the quality is generally better. Missed the best offers today? Wait until late January/early February and they will usually go on sale again at comparable or better prices.
toys
If you’re looking for one of this year’s hottest items then by all means buy it when you see it. But if you’re just looking for random toys, despite the sales, Black Friday isn’t the best time to buy them. There’s a good chance you’ll find better prices closer to Christmas.
Form
It’s tempting to shop for makeup when you’re already at a big store like Macy’s, but the Black Friday deals aren’t usually great. Cyber Monday generally has better discounts, says DealNews. And more stores will offer them.
holiday decorations
While there are some bargains for people wanting to get in the festive spirit, you’d better wait until just before or even better after Christmas. Then the prices will be reduced really sharply and you can stock up for the 2023 holiday.
power tools
Mom or Dad might want an exercise, but the holidays aren’t the time for peak savings. Closer to Father’s Day, prices tend to be lower. There are some end-of-year savings, but if it’s a gift that can wait, consider starting your shopping a little earlier next year.
furniture
Sofas and other expensive pieces of furniture are no ordinary Christmas gifts. You’ll probably save money if you can wait until President’s Day or Memorial Day. The occasional deal you see on Black Friday (or throughout the holiday season) generally won’t be the best.
Pretty much everything from small businesses
Let’s be clear: we’re not saying you shouldn’t support local merchants. just wait a day Small Business Saturday is November 26th – and that’s when small business deals are at their most prevalent.
