The Gender and Civil Society Department of the African Development Bank will host a session on the theme of “Accelerating gender-responsive climate investment for a resilience Sahel” at COP27 at the Pavillon de la Francophonie Zone C, Pavilion 8, on November 14, 2022, in Sharm el -Sheikh, Egypt.
The main purpose of this session is to provide a platform for dialogue on the results of the regional Gender Profile study, to collect observations and political commitments for women’s resilience to climate shocks in the Sahel, and finally to best share practices at local, national and regional levels.
This session fleshes out the Bank’s commitment to an inclusive climate agenda. The recommendations, discussions and conclusions will feed into subsequent actions to support gender-focused climate resilience in the Sahel.

Opening speech: Al Hamndou Dorsouma, Acting Director, Department of Climate Change and Green Growth, African Development Bank
Presentation of the results of the profile on gender and economic and climate resilience: Aïssatou Dosso, Senior Gender and Innovation Officer, African Development Bank
Panel discussion: Rasha Abuelhassan, Water and Habitat Coordinator, International Committee of the Red Cross; Sidi Mohamed El Wavi, Director of Climate and Green Economy, Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Mauritania; Sylvie Yaméogo, Program Officer, Alliance for the Biodigester in West and Central Africa; Souadata Aboubacrine, Executive Secretary of the Sahel Organization Tin Hinan.
