Strategic Partnership Dialogue between the United States and Switzerland
Ambassador Scott C. Miller and Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien led the U.S. delegation to the U.S.-Swiss Strategic Partnership Dialogue April 17 in Bern, Switzerland.
Launched in October 2021, the annual Strategic Partnership Dialogue has become a cornerstone of the long-standing U.S.-Swiss relationship based on shared values and interests, robust economic and trade relationships, and a commitment to upholding the international, rules-based order. The Strategic Partnership Dialogue reflects the close and productive bilateral relationship and enduring partnership between the United States and Switzerland by coordinating actions to achieve our shared goals.
The discussions with Swiss counterparts, led by State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Alexandre Fasel, focused on ensuring support for Ukraine, enforcing international sanctions, strengthening anti-money laundering frameworks and multilateral priorities, protection of human rights and cybersecurity. The delegations also acknowledged the successful conclusion of negotiations on an intergovernmental agreement based on Model 1 of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and looked forward to the signing of the agreement in Bern in the near future.
