BY: Fatma Badawi
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied a report by Israeli media (April 10, 2024) claiming that Indonesia would normalize diplomatic relations with Israel in order to gain acceptance as a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly refuted any plans to establish diplomatic relations with Israel, especially given the current situation of Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
The official spokesperson also affirmed that Indonesia’s position remains unchanged and steadfast in supporting Palestinian independence within the framework of a two-state solution. Indonesia will continue to stand at the forefront in defending the rights of the Palestinian people, in accordance with the provisions of the Indonesian constitution.
