The Qatar Financial Center Authority, the legal and tax arm of the Qatar Financial Center, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), a prestigious British institution specializing in securities and investment. This collaboration aims to enhance the skills of the workforce within the Qatar Financial Center and the broader financial services sector.
Under this agreement, both parties will collaborate to implement training programs and professional certifications, organize workshops and awareness sessions to enhance understanding of the mandatory qualification framework at the Qatar Financial Center Authority, and promote continuous education and skills development within the authority. Through these initiatives, the parties will facilitate knowledge exchange and strengthen communication and collaboration among various stakeholders in the industry. Training programs for professional qualifications will be offered in English, with examinations provided in both English and Arabic.
The memorandum also includes provisions for employees of the Qatar Financial Center Authority to obtain membership in the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Through this membership, employees will gain access to the institute’s advanced education platform, which hosts over 2,000 categorized educational materials by subject or type. This platform will support them in enhancing their skills and fostering continuous professional development.
Yousuf Mohammed Al Jaida, the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Financial Center, expressed that the alliance with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment marks another significant milestone in efforts to develop a knowledgeable and skilled workforce in the financial sector. He stated, “Through this memorandum, we aim to harness the expertise and resources of both institutions to raise industry standards and create diverse opportunities for growth and professional development.”
Matthew Cowan, a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and the Regional Director of the institute in the Middle East and North Africa, expressed his eagerness to work closely with the Qatar Financial Center and enhance our relationships with regulatory bodies, companies, individuals, and members of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment in the region. He added, “Through this partnership, we also look forward to continuing to raise awareness of the importance of developing the knowledge and skills necessary for professional advancement and assisting in building the capacities of Qatari citizens as part of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.”
