Meeting of President Biden with Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen

President Joseph R. Biden Jr. met with Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen at the White House today to underscore the deep and enduring ties between the governments and peoples of the United States and Denmark. Leaders discussed our unwavering support for Ukraine in defending itself against Russia’s brutal war of aggression. President Biden hailed Denmark’s provision of significant security assistance to Ukraine and its leadership in training Ukrainian pilots. They discussed their efforts as NATO allies and close partners to strengthen transatlantic security, which will be further strengthened by the conclusion of a bilateral defense cooperation agreement. They also shared their work together to strengthen economic prosperity, increase energy security and address the impact of climate change.

Prime Minister Frederiksen also met with several members of the House of Representatives, including Steny Hoyer and Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi.

The visit took place on Denmark’s Constitution Day and the day ended with a Constitution Day reception at the Danish Embassy in Washington, attended by Ambassador Leventhal and retired US Ambassadors to Denmark James P. Cain and Laurie S. Fulton.
