The South Korean Ambassador, Kim Young Hyun, emphasized the strong and growing ties between Egypt and South Korea during the opening of the Korean Culture Week at the Egyptian Opera House. This event celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt, with diplomats and cultural enthusiasts in attendance.

Despite the geographical distance, the ambassador highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in deepening mutual understanding between the two nations. He announced plans for a grand celebration in 2025, marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and South Korea. The event will include a series of cultural activities aimed at introducing Korean culture to Egyptians and promoting Egypt’s rich cultural heritage to South Koreans.

Dr. Lamis Zayed, Head of the Egyptian Opera House, acknowledged the long-standing cooperation between the Korean Embassy and the Opera House, reflecting how art can transcend boundaries. This cultural bond was illustrated through a joint performance by Korean soprano Hana Lee and Egyptian soprano Dr. Dalia Farouk.

The event continued with a captivating performance by the Korean band “Leenalchi,” blending traditional pansori storytelling with modern alternative rock, leaving the audience in awe.

The Korean Culture Week runs until Saturday, featuring exhibitions, workshops, and traditional Korean music performances, closing with a special musical tribute on September 28, celebrating Korea’s vibrant cultural legacy.
