The Ambassador of Mexico to Egypt, Leonora Rueda Gutierrez, met with Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed, President of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, to deliver a collection of heritage books about Mexico.
This grant, which was implemented by the Embassy of Mexico in Egypt, was implemented thanks to the cooperation with the General Directorate of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), and the Network of Libraries and Archives of the Historic Center of Mexico City (RBACH).
On this occasion, 32 publications were delivered, covering various topics about Mexican history, culture, and heritage. These works will contribute to enriching the collection of books at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which will allow Egyptian researchers, academics, and readers to access a greater number of library heritage works about Mexico.
During the meeting, Ambassador Leonora Rueda explained that the initiative reflects Mexico’s interest in diplomatic culture, which is a means of enhancing dialogue and cooperation between the two countries. She also stressed that the influence of culture and knowledge transcends borders and barriers, and works to enhance mutual understanding and rapprochement between peoples.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed expressed his gratitude for the book donation initiative, and stressed the importance of encouraging cooperation between the two countries. He also pointed out the importance of the role of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina as a distinguished center for producing and disseminating awareness and knowledge, and a forum for cultural dialogue.
Through this initiative, Mexico affirms its commitment to preserving and disseminating cultural heritage, by contributing to building strong relations between the two countries. The Mexican Embassy in Cairo indicated that it will continue its efforts to encourage activities that support cultural and academic exchange and deepen bilateral relations between Egypt and Mexico.
